Karina had a playdate on Friday with her little friend Celeste. Celeste is a few months younger than Karina. We met Celeste through Bill, as he and Celeste's daddy work together. When Celeste's dad got deployed for a year, I contacted her mother and we started going to swim classes. Then Celeste had a birthday and we went to that, and now we've had our first real playdate.
We went to Celeste's house and played with her toys (she shared really well!). Karina was shy at first but warmed up pretty quickly. They have a dog, too, and Karina loves dogs. Seeing the dog helped her get over her shyness, too. After a while, she and Celeste started running around the wall separating the kitchen from the living and dining rooms and "catching" each other with the help of their moms/grandmother. (Celeste's grandma is here to help while her daddy is deployed). It was so funny watching them laugh every time they would meet up going around the circle.
They ate lunch and it was really great for me, because Celeste is being a picky eater, too. It made me feel less alone in the Battle of Eating Healthy Foods that I fight every day. Luckily, Celeste will eat veggies. Karina will not. Yet.
Then we went outside and played with the dog. Karina would laugh every time anyone threw the ball for her. Then Karina fell down on some concrete and scraped her hand and knee, but she was okay. The dog was the ultimate distraction. By that time, it was the girls' naptime, so we left and Celeste was on her way to her bedroom to put herself to sleep! We had a really good time, and I'm looking forward to doing it again soon.

A first playdate...so cute! Hard to believe that she's growing up enough to have one!!!
